Background

Bart joined the Bar in 2013. He commenced his career as a teacher, became actively involved in and developed strong ties with the trade union movement. After leaving the teaching profession he explored management and consulting opportunities in the corporate world, focussing in the main on labour relations training and facilitation.

Prior to joining the Bar, he worked extensively in the labour field, serving as an arbitrator and mediator on the IMSSA, later AMSSA panel. He worked at the CCMA for 10 years, first as a full-time commissioner, later part-time Senior Commissioner. He is an experienced labour arbitrator, facilitator and mediator and continues to serve on various Bargaining Council & Dispute Resolution Bodies.
